50 Jobs Return to Bendigo Contact Centre
Monday, July 26, 2010
Excelior today announced it had secured 50 new jobs for its Bendigo contact centre and said that the “ramp-up’ was under way immediately. Excelior CEO John Watkinson said while the Excelior Bendigo site had suffered considerably, as it was previously reliant on one major client, the company’s faith in its ability to broaden the operation has begun to pay off.
“When Excelior acquired the Bendigo contact centre in 2007 all jobs were scheduled to go as the previous operator moved the positions offshore. We have managed to keep the centre going and find some new and slightly different work for the operation.
“We have signed contracts with a major energy company and a retail business, which involve outbound calls, as opposed to the inbound nature of the work traditionally undertaken at the site.
“Where possible we will recruit previous employees who have the skill set and aptitude to retrain under the new model – in fact we are delighted to currently be advertising for key roles in the Bendigo Advertiser and on our website www.excelior.com.au. It has always been my belief that Bendigo offers an enormous talent pool and we invite anyone who is optimistic, enjoys work and is prepared to be flexible to get in touch.
“Excelior management is continuing to pursue other contact centre contracts and hopes to make announcements progressively as the Bendigo centre moves towards capacity.
“This transition phase has been very difficult for our loyal employees at Bendigo and I would like to thank them for their continued support. Of course the nature of this business is that contracts come and go. Our strategy is not to be reliant on one large single client wherever possible. This way we will weather the storms much more smoothly,” Mr Watkinson said.
